08 October 1944: Ken's Preparations to Join the 67th Armored Regiment.

APO 153 → 3rd Replacement Depot, St. Trond, Belgium: Ken arrived at the 3rd Replacement Depot in St. Trond, Belgium on or about October 8th. Clerks checked his service record, qualification card, and immunization record, as well as his pay information and tags. In addition, he was evaluated to insure his fitness for duty, infectious diseases, and immunization history. While at the 3rd Depot, Ken was issued his battle gear, sidearm, and maps. He also most likely took a standardized field leadership and supply discipline exam to guarantee his readiness before being posted to the front lines. He was assigned to the 67th Armored Regiment while at the 3rd Depot. However, he did not report to his assignment until his unit arrived in the reserve area. This was to avoid throwing him into the chaos of war before he had a chance to become familiar with the men in his unit.
